how come Odo needing to go be in a bucket for a while every 16 hours is the most relatable thing anyone on Star Trek goes through
he's like "bucket time" and I'm like literally me

When I joined the #SelfHosting community a few years ago I thought it was absolute madness what people were buying for their little home setups.
So anyway, my 128 terabytes of storage finally arrived today.

Sometimes I #paint things.
This isn't a recent piece but it somehow never got posted and I'm not one to miss out on that sweet, sweet internet karma

It's 103 degrees today, but I decided biking instead of being stuck in traffic was the better way to pick up Co-Op this week. 10/10 will do again.

I've had six different door-to-door pest control salesmen come to my house in the last month and I've told each of them the same thing: "I've already got a guy."
In all seriousness, I usually end up gently explaining how some bugs actually eat other bugs and I don't need to do much more than ensure I'm keeping my yard wild and diverse. They always look at me like I'm crazy.

As the core of a massive star is compressed during a Type II supernova or a Type Ib or Type Ic supernova, and collapses into a neutron star, it retains most of its angular momentum. Because it has only a tiny fraction of its parent's radius (sharply reducing its moment of inertia), a neutron star is formed with very high rotation speed and then, over a very long period, it slows. Neutron stars are known that have rotation periods from about 1.4 ms to 30 s. The neutron star's density also gives it very high surface gravity, with typical values ranging from 1012 to 1013 m/s2 (more than 1011 times that of Earth).[12] One measure of such immense gravity is the fact that neutron stars have an escape velocity of over half the speed of light.[13] The neutron star's gravity accelerates infalling matter to tremendous speed, and tidal forces near the surface can cause spaghettification.

and this question from my freshman seminar professor still haunts me re the noise of the train in the distance:
"Does Thoreau enjoy this penetration?”

I've taken almost this exact same photo every year since I moved here in 2020, albeit it somewhat unintentionally. There's just always one perfect, quiet sunset that just begs to be captured through the trees each year.
It's fun looking back through the photos and seeing just how much has changed.

Both the level of #COVID19 in US wastewater and the positive rate of testing have almost doubled in the past 3 weeks. We're still WELL below the levels in past lulls, but we might not be within two or three weeks at this rate.
Starting this late, we can expect this surge to peak in late August.
Starting this low, it's still likely to continue our trend toward consecutively lower surges—but time will tell. 1/2

I spent a lot of time redesigning and improving the new fediverse.info
it would mean a lot to me if you boost this, and spread awareness of this powerful onboarding resource ❤️

Reasonable preventions for ClickFix attacks would also probably kill "benign" curl | bash installation—and that's good.
Figure out better installation pathways, devs.
